From her earliest painting days as a student in Houston, Judy took to the outdoors.  With an oversized canvas strapped to the top of her red Volkswagen, she found subjects in open fields, on the golf course, or along country roads—any place that caught her eye.

During the 1970’s, Judy worked for Ron Hall, owner of Hall Galleries in Ft. Worth, TX. It was during this time she had the opportunity to observe first hand the paintings of the American Impressionists, and study their use of color and technique. These proved to be important years in the development of her own style, and ignited a passion for painting that would last a lifetime.

With wind and changing light, painting outdoors definitely presents unique challenges.  But it also gives life to the painting, a special attachment to the location, and memories that stick with the artist forever.
